Raetihi breaky: mackerel, bacon, chili


Steamed cabbage leaves, steamed gurnard, chili oil.

Squid with black rice and tomatoes

Frozen squid tubes, one for each person. Cook black rice, stir in chopped garlic for the last 10 minutes of cooking. Slow roast (or microwave) a pile of tomatoes, chuck in Italian herbs, capers, chopped black olives. Stuff the squid tubes with the rice. Wrap a rasher of streaky bacon around each tube, fry in a pan. Serve with the tomatoes.
